Teething is the stage when teeth erupt in the oral cavity of your child.
It is a very important phase in the growth of the child. When teeth start erupting, they lay foundation for the growth of jaw bones for the succeeding permanent teeth. They are important for the chewing and speech development of the child as well. Teething starts around the age of 6 months and continues till the age of 18 months. By the age of 2 years, all the 20 milk teeth erupt in the oral cavity. In today’s generation there is a slight delay noted in the teething process, so delay of some weeks is absolutely normal.
During the process, kids have certain problems which are common and not to be worried about.
They feel
1. Irritated
2. Sleep less
3. Eat less
5. Increase in drooling of saliva
Sometimes due to decrease in food intake, there might be loss in weight. They can also have fever and diarrhea occasionally. They have tendency to bite whatever comes in their catch.
To ease the teething process,
1. You should massage their gums and gently rub them.
2. Give them good quality teether, on which they can bite. This will prevent infection that can happen by biting on unhygienic things.
3. If the fever is continuous or loss of weight is more, you can consult the pediatrician.
Thus having the knowledge of the facts about teething, you can avoid the panic and you and your child can enjoy the process
