Extraction of one tooth can damage 7 other teeth

When you visit the dentist and hear of multiple treatment and appointments required, does the thought of removing the tooth come across your mind?
These kind of thoughts are very common because the time and money required to remove the tooth is very less as compared to saving the tooth
But is that the right option?
NO
Extraction/Removal of one tooth will damage 7 other teeth.
Yes, you read it right
Let’s understand how does that happen?
For example if you remove lower right molar,
First the tooth opposite to the removed tooth that is upper molar will try to come in that space.
As it moves, the two teeth adjacent to it will become open and develop decay because of subsequent food lodgment that will happen.
The two teeth adjacent to the lower tooth will also move in that space as teeth usually move where they get space.
Consequently these two teeth and two more adjacent teeth to these teeth will open and develop decay because of open space.
Thus in total removal of one tooth will damage 7 other teeth.
In the earlier times due to lack of advances, tooth removal was the only choice in case of infection.
But now due to so many advances and recent armamentarium, it is now possible to save the natural tooth without removal.
So tooth removal might sound as an easy option, but always save your natural tooth to prevent damage to the 7 other teeth.
Whenever you visit your dentist, always opt to save your natural tooth as the first choice
And if your tooth is already removed then, get it replaced at the earliest to prevent such complications.
