When you visit your dentist for any tooth related problem, you are often give multiple treatment options for a single problem

Do you get confused how to choose?

The answer is very simple
You should always choose the conservative option or the least invasive option.
For example in case of heart attack, you first choose to go for angioplasty instead of bypass surgery. In case of kidney stone, you choose to take medicine rather than directly go for surgical removal. In the same way for the tooth related problems also you should go for conservative treatment.
Why?
If you go for root canal treatment instead of removal, you preserve the natural tooth in your oral cavity. If you go for pulp therapy instead of root canal, you keep the tooth living and not make it dead. If you go for filling instead of pulp therapy and root canal, you still preserve more of healthy tooth structure. If the tooth is living as compared to dead, its life is prolonged.

If you go for partial crowns and veneers you preserve more natural tooth as compared to the full crowns. More the natural tooth structure, lesser the chances of fracture.

So more the conservative treatment, less invasive it is. This leads to healthier tooth structure to be preserved and thus increases the life of the tooth
More often patients are confused that what if the conservative treatment fails?
But there is never 100% guarantee even for the invasive treatment, even they can fail. Moreover whatever number of years the conservative treatment lasts is a bonus, because the time period of invasive treatment to last will start after that many years.

Due to the advance technology and research, conservative treatment have become more successful in the recent times and they are practiced more and more now
So whenever you visit your dentist next, always ask for the least invasive and conservative treatment option possible for your tooth and increase the life of your tooth.
