Does food get stuck between your teeth specifically when you eat fibrous food?
What do you use to remove it?
Toothpick
Fingernails
Safety pins
Matchstick and many more
If you use any of the above, you are doing extremely wrong
Then what should be used to remove that food stuck in between teeth
The answer is dental floss
Anything that you use other than this is not advisable
Why?
Dental floss is a smooth thread that is designed to go between the natural spaces of your teeth and pull that food particle out.
When you use things like toothpick other than floss, they first increase the space between the teeth leading to more food impaction.
Additionally it also damages your gums and creates permanent space between teeth and gums. More you use the toothpick, more the space is created in your gums and thus more the food lodgment.
They work by push mechanism rather than pull mechanism. So they push the food more inside the gums rather than pulling it out.
So it feels that you are removing that food stuck but in fact you are pushing it more inside and creating more damage to the gums surrounding your teeth
If this food remains stuck to your teeth, then it will also start decay in your teeth, and that is the reason that decay between two teeth is very common
So stop using all those home remedies to remove the food and strictly use only dental floss to remove the food stuck between teeth
