Is Dentistry Expensive?

Many people believe that dental treatments are too expensive?
But are they really expensive?
No, not at all.
Dentistry is not expensive, but neglect definitely is.

Do we visit our dentist every 6 months?

Do we brush our teeth twice daily? Or do we even brush once, with the proper technique? Do we floss? If the answers to these questions are “NO” then dentistry definitely becomes expensive.

A small decay when treated early, would cost you money in just few hundreds, but if not treated you will end up getting root canal done which will cost you thousands. If you still leave it untreated and neglected for months or years, you will lose the tooth. Then the replacement of that tooth can cost you lakhs and ALAS! The natural tooth is still gone. Thus the point gets proven that what costed you more is neglect and not the treatment.
We have been told by the society since our childhood that scaling/cleaning of teeth weakens your teeth. Is that true? This myth keeps you away from dentist for years and the simple cleaning which would have just costed a few bucks, because of negligence leads to treatments like surgical cleaning which will cost you thousands. Thus again neglect is more expensive.
Did you take your child for frequent visits to the dentist so that their milky teeth stay healthy or did you think that they are here only for few years to function? If yes, then this is another neglect, because when milky teeth are damaged and become unhealthy they damage the foundation of permanent teeth and begins the chain of problems. Thus neglect again makes dental treatment expensive.
When Children fall or have accidents in their childhood, do we care to get their teeth checked?
Most of the time the answer is “NO” and this neglect becomes the initiator for so big problem surrounding the teeth that it can cost you thousands when treated after years.
Dentistry has always been cheaper. But when we neglect the health of the teeth and avoid regular checkup, we end up needing treatments that becomes expensive. Thus getting a checkup done from dentist every 6 months can you save from the expense of this neglect.
